Nestled in the heart of the charming village of Lake Ann, Michigan, our church is part of a community rich with history and heart. Did you know that Lake Ann was once a bustling hub of sawmill activity, even before Traverse City began to flourish? If you're curious about our vibrant past, we invite you to explore the village and stop by the local museum—there’s so much to discover.
Lake Ann UMC began as a grassroots effort, built on the vision and faith of committed individuals who longed for a place to worship together. Their determination led to the construction of our first church building—and now, more than 103 years later, we continue to serve this wonderful community with that same enduring spirit.
Our Community Center is a lively space that brings people together for connection and celebration. It hosts everything from pickleball and youth basketball to weddings, banquets, meetings, and retreats. The Neighborhood Play Group gathers here on the 2nd and 4th Fridays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. We also enjoy regular open-gym hours, movie nights, and family fun days that foster togetherness throughout the year.
At Lake Ann UMC, you'll find a welcoming and diverse group of people from all generations and backgrounds. We believe living as the Body of Christ means being real with each other—sharing laughter, life, and love in an atmosphere of authentic community.

Pastor Yongchoel Woo
We are delighted to welcome Rev. Yongchoel Woo as the new pastor of our church family! With a deep heart for ministry and a joyful spirit, Rev. Woo joins us eager to connect, serve, and walk alongside our community in faith. Though more details will be shared soon, we are already filled with anticipation for the ways God will work through his leadership. He is looking forward to getting to know each of you and discerning how best to meet the spiritual needs of our congregation and beyond.

Hello! My name is Katie Nellermoe, and I just arrived from Washington State to take on the role of Director of Family Ministries at Lake Ann United Methodist Church here in Lake Ann, Michigan. I couldn’t be more excited to begin living in this beautiful and welcoming community! I’m excited to work with the children here in Lake Ann, as I have felt the calling on my life to work with youth and children since I was 13 years old. Decades later, I have grown deeply in my love for working with, serving, and caring for all ages of God’s children. When I have free time, I love crocheting, going for walks, talking with friends and family, drinking a mocha, playing board or video games, and watching TV shows or movies. I also really, really love learning about new people and their lives, and always need more friends, so please reach out to me!

Aaron is a lifelong member of the Methodist Church! "To serve this Christ centered, welcoming and genuine Congregation, is truly a blessing!", he says. Make sure you stop and say hi to him in the office. After hours you can find him enjoying the wonderful outdoor bounty the area provides; biking, golfing, kayaking and bowhunting!
